Salary to Hourly Calculator

Convert your annual salary to an hourly wage and see your monthly, weekly, and daily earnings.

How It Works

Divide your annual salary by the total hours you work per year. Total hours = hours per week × weeks per year minus unpaid time off. The calculator also breaks down monthly, weekly, and daily earnings so you can compare job offers or freelance rates.

Formula

Hourly Rate = Annual Salary / (Hours per Week × Weeks per Year)
For example, if you make $52,000 a year working 40 hours a week for 52 weeks: Hourly Rate = $52,000 / (40 × 52) = $52,000 / 2,080 = $25.00/hour.

Worked Example

Converting a $60,000 Salary with Unpaid Vacation

  1. Annual Salary: $60,000
  2. Hours per week: 40
  3. Total weeks in a year: 52
  4. Unpaid vacation weeks: 2
  5. Actual weeks worked: 50
  6. Total hours worked = 40 × 50 = 2,000 hours
  7. Hourly Rate = $60,000 / 2,000 = $30.00/hour

Common Mistakes

✕

Forgetting to subtract unpaid time off

✓

If you take 2 weeks of unpaid vacation, you only work 50 weeks, which increases your true hourly rate.

✕

Using net salary instead of gross salary

✓

Always use your gross (pre-tax) salary when comparing hourly rates across different jobs.
